Why this work?
I grew up playing baseball, and it taught me nothing gets decided in one game. You show up, you do the same small things well, and it adds up over a long season. Financial planning works the same way, and so does the relationship. Almost 30 years into this profession and what I still like best is the steady part. Checking in between meetings, not because anything’s due, but because life doesn’t wait for review season. Being the person a family reaches out to when something changes, and knowing they do because they know we’re here for them.
What’s the first question you ask in a first meeting?
“What’s most important to you right now?”
We’ll get to the accounts and the investments… that part isn’t going anywhere. But I can’t give anyone useful advice until I understand what they’re actually trying to protect, build, or make room for.
What do you wish more people understood about money?
Growth matters, but it isn’t the point. The point is the freedom to say yes to the things that matter, the confidence that the people you love are taken care of, and one less thing keeping you up at night.
What kind of client do you do your best work with?
People who want a relationship, not a transaction. They don’t need to have it figured out (almost nobody does, including the ones who look like they do). They just have to be willing to say where they actually are, ask questions, and think out loud with us. That’s the only requirement.
Where would I find you on a Saturday?
Enjoying a morning workout, then hanging out with my wife, then perhaps hosting a dinner at home.
