Why this work?
As advisors, we get the opportunity to make an enormous impact and help people. Since 1982, I have been geeking out about the idea that done well, this is one of the most meaningful roles that someone can play in the lives of others.
What’s the first question you ask in a first meeting?
“What are you going through?” Or simply, “Tell me about yourself and what brought you here?”
What do you wish more people understood about money?
To quote my friend Tim Maurer, “Personal financial planning is far more personal than it is financial. And it’s behavior that has the biggest impact on our results.”
What kind of client do you do your best work with?
Personality-wise, it’s those who are authentic, curious, and humble. The other piece is complexity… Individuals and couples whose financial questions don’t have one right answer. Which means that my job isn’t to hand them a solution, it’s to guide them to find their best answer.
Where would I find you on a Saturday?
On the golf course if the weather is nice… if not, in my chair reading.
